Green Sites & Info

It is so important for us to become more concerned about our earth.  I ask you today to think of just one thing you can start doing to be more earth friendly.  I have listed a couple of websites and then some useful tidbits.  Education is powerful.  Once we have it no one can ever take it away.  Use this education to make a difference and pass it on.

Yours in health,

Allison

GREEN SHOPPING:

On the Personal Shopping Link you will see a Go Green shopping section.  If you would like to sell your slightly used products on my site, please send me pictures so that I may load them up with a brief description and cost.  Items such as heavy furniture,  will require pictures from all angles.  I will keep your contact information private until the sale is complete and then only give out a phone number.  For $15 a month for heavy furniture and $10 for all clothing and related items,  you may load up as many items as you would like for as long as you would like.  100% of the cost is credited to you.  The merchant will contact you once the sale is complete and arrange shippment details or pick up.  It is as simple as that!  Contact me for additional details in submitting your pictures at info@allisonwalkerrd.com

WEBSITES:

2.            www.earthday.net

USEFUL TIDBITS:

1.            Recycle!!  Call your local recycling company.  Check out your local

yellow pages for drop off points for your recycled items.

2.            Turn your water off while brushing your teeth.  It will save tons of water

from being wasted.  Pass this on to your children.

3.            Water your yard early in the morning to prevent it from evaporating

               which is wasteful.

4.            When washing clothes, try to always wash full loads to save energy.

5.            Unplug things like phone charges, toaster ovens, coffee pots and etc.

when they are not being used.  These items still draw a current even though

               they are turned off.

6.            Switch over to cloth napkins and cleaning rags.  Try to make the

switch from papertowels when you can.  It will keep many trees  from being

               cut down.

7.            Switch your light bulbs over to the florescent energy saver bulbs.  However,

be careful with small children and broken light bulbs.  They contain

mercury and can be harmful to small children and even pets.

8.            Plant something today!  If we are cutting down trees and plants, we need to

replenish them.  It goes back to basic science.  Plants, trees, bushes and etc.

help clean out our air.  We need them in our ecosystem.

9.            Buy a water filter vs. bottled water.  All of the plastic bottles we put in our land

fills are just sitting there.  They do not break down.  By buying a water filter to

install under the kitchen sink or by using one on the fridge saves millions of

plastic water bottles from entering our land fills each and every day!!  Bottled

water companies are not even required to tell you where or how they got

their product.  Our own tab water has to report its findings and can be

               accessed by the general public.

10.          Buy local any time you can.  It serves your area and puts tax dollars back

into your city that you love.  The produce and seafood markets will offer a

great variety of what is in season with out pesticides, chemicals and etc.

on them which in turn is healthier for you.  Finally, it saves on emissions

that would normally be put in the atmosphere from the trucks shipping

               the product to us.
